A very sincere thank you to you and your group for joining us for Ford Championship Weekend 2008. What an honor it is to have hosted you for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Craftsman Truck Series finales, and what a weekend of Championship racing it was. Some of the highlights:
  • Sunday’s history-making Sprint Cup Championship, in which Jimmie Johnson netted only the second Cup series “three-peat” in NASCAR history, despite Carl Edward’s final push and Ford 400 victory
  • Saturday’s Nationwide finale, in which Edwards took the Ford 300 checkered flag but fell just 21 points short of catching Nationwide Series champ Clint Bowyer
  • Friday night’s Craftsman Truck race, won by Todd Bodine, which began with the closest-ever margin entering a Truck finale and ended with Johnny Benson winning the championship by just seven points.

Toss in Sunday’s live pre-race ceremonies celebrating legendary Sprint Cup Champions, beautiful November weather, Ford RaceFest at the Hard Rock, and an entire midway of interactive displays and live music, and it was quite the festive South Florida weekend.

And now we focus on 2009 and a historic first for the motorsports industry as Homestead-Miami becomes the first speedway ever to host all of North America’s premier motorsports championships: the IndyCar, Firestone Indy Lights and Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series on Oct. 10; and NASCAR’s Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series Nov. 20-22.
